Dental Lab owners know that collecting and refining dental scrap recovers a significant amount of valuable precious metal. However, many of our
customers are unaware of how much precious metal finds its way to unexpected places from which valuable metal can be easily recovered to increase your returns.
Collecting every source of scrap and implementing simple housekeeping rules can often increase your returns by 20% or more!
Cleaning up with damp paper towels is a most effective measure. Wipe down every surface in the areas where precious metals are handled, paying particular attention
to shelf surfaces, baseboards and job trays. Do this religiously at the end of every shift and place the paper towels in a Star collection sack.
Refining Mats. Carpets and mats accumulate quantities of metal shards and dust and should never be discarded. They can be cut up into 18" squares, placed in
large Star collection sacks and shipped to us to recover precious metals. Better yet, use "refining mats" under technicians chairs. These mats are specially designed to trap metal shards,
and they are constructed from material that produces no dangerous vapours while being incinerated.
Unlikely Sources. Chair covers and padding, worn linoleum, air conditioning filters, cleaning mops, carpet cleaning vacuum bags and disposable lab coats all collect
metal dust and shards – and Star can refine every one of these unlikely sources!
